If you recently upgraded your home windows, you’ve probably enjoyed the enhanced level of comfort in your home, as well as the level of energy efficiency you can now maintain. You want these benefits to continue into the future, and this means taking good care of your home windows.

At Durable Windows & Doors, we have some helpful tips for taking great care of your home windows now and in the future:
- Use a gentle class cleaner or mixture of water and vinegar to clean your home’s windows on a regular basis. You should also wipe down the window frames and sills with a damp cloth regularly to remove dust and debris to help prevent mold and mildew buildup.
- Inspect your weatherstripping and seals around your windows on a regular basis for signs of wear, cracking, and gaps. Replace any damaged seals to prevent air leaks, which can affect energy efficiency.
- Inspect your window glass and frames for any cracks or chips. Small issues can turn into larger ones if not addressed promptly, so repair or replace damaged glass or seals to maintain window integrity.
- Excess moisture can cause condensation on your windows. Use dehumidifiers or proper ventilation to reduce indoor humidity levels.
- Check the caulking around your window frames and between the glass and the frame for any cracks or gaps. Reapply caulking where needed to ensure proper insulation and to prevent drafts.
